6'9" Solomon Ominu commits to Pacific Tigers
Native of Nigeria brings strong a frontcourt presence and athleticism
Coach Dave Smart has added another piece to his ‘24-’25 front court with today’s commitment of 6’9” Solomon Ominu, who spent last season with Jelly Fam in the Overtime Elite league based out of Atlanta, Georgia. The native of Kaduna, Nigeria averaged 11.0 ppg/9.9 rpg in 25 mpg, shooting 58.6% from the floor. Overtime Elite is an eight-team league for 16-to-20-year-olds that includes an academic program and has been operating since 2021-22.
Ominu will enter the University of the Pacific as a true freshman. He originally committed to Washington State in 2021 without playing high school or grassroots in the U.S. season however never made it to Pullman, experiencing some passport issues. Originally starting his career in Africa, Ominu also had offers from Memphis and Oklahoma going back to 2021. Ominu played a season in the U.S. at Bridgton Academy in Massachusetts, our Savior Lutheran in the Bronx and also spent time in NBA Academy in Africa in 2022 before joining OTE.
Ominu is still relatively young and raw, not turning 20 until this coming August. Some big men take more time to mature and Coach Smart has a history of grooming young big men to become excellent offensive decision makers and defenders over time.

The coaching staff remains laser focused on filling out the Tigers ‘24-’25 roster and we hope to have more comments from Coach Smart on his latest recruit.
